On Saturday 1st May, Emily held a Pole Jam for charity with all
proceeds going to Gynae C which is a charity supporting women with
gynaecological cancer. Gynae C was set up by Helen Jackson (Emily’s
mother) who works extremely hard managing this charity single handed.
A Pole Jam is an event where pole dancers and people interested in
pole dancing meet up and take part in some pole dancing for fitness!
The entry fee to this event was only £2 and was held in The Vic
function room in Old Town, Swindon. Emily had a great turn out, from
those who have never pole danced before to those advanced pole
dancers , all came to enjoy 4 hours of pole dancing for fitness! The aim
of this event was to show what pole dancing for fitness is all about
while raising money for a good cause at the same time.
This event formed part of the UK Pole Dance Day, a national annual
event organised by Equity, the performers’ union. UK Pole Dance Day,
now in it’s second year, aims to promote an understanding of pole
dancing as a legitimate art form and form of exercise.
